UnLabelMe is not “anti-label.” We stand for this manifesto: “Label Me to See Me. UnLabel Me to Know Me.” We use media, entertainment, and pop culture to entertain and elevate. We illuminate the inherent duality and challenges that Language and Labels create all of which profoundly contributes to, and intensifies, the ever-deepening Polarization in our society on multiple levels.  Our logo is Black+White, however the issues we illuminate are surely not.

There’s probably not a waking hour that passes, when we are not being labeled and/or labeling others, based on assumptions, judgments, and generalizations. UnLabelMe seeks to destigmatize, unshame, and create pathways for a paradigm shift in consciousness around language. Some of the most polarizing aspects of society and culture are completely intertwined with labels: Gender/Sexual identity, Mental Health, Race and Gender Relations, Politics, Vaccines…and beyond. For starters, think about how often the simple label “Normal” is used, and the effect it has in all walks of life.   

How we use labels affects how we think, speak, feel, and contributes positively and negatively to our experiences. Labels greatly color how we view our ability to create the future that we want to live.  Labels are simultaneously helpful (a mental health diagnosis, a self-identification gender label, etc.) and harmful (limiting how we see who is behind that label). Therein lies the rub. The Duality of Life, and Labels.  It’s worth repeating our tag line because it speaks to our underlying Manifesto more powerfully than anything else. “Label Me to See Me. UnLabelMe to Know Me.” It deeply resonates with people in ways that transcend age, race, gender/sexual identity, geography, and political affiliation. 

Our Platform is based on our passion for the Power of Personal Storytelling in all forms (words, pictures, music, film/video, live events).  Storytelling heightens the Power of Perspective. Storytelling broadens perspective on any subject, it’s the foundation for Empathy, Compassion and Human Connection. Entertainment, media + pop culture. It becomes our pathway to entertain and elevate. It opens people to see differently, without trying to do so. It just does. Storytelling allows us to shift our focus from our differences to where we are the same—where we share common experiences.  

The UnLabelMe Movement has never been more needed, people tell us this every day. Being social is as important as social media in the dynamism of our unique Old/New School alchemy. Our live gatherings and upcoming national RoadTrip are as elemental to reach and connect (with) people as is our online presence. We are committed to meeting people wherever they are – in their truths and narratives, on their platforms, in their homes, cities, towns, villages.
