YIDDISH WORD OF THE DAY
WHY THIS?
All Over the Place is about the intersectionality of life in this unparalleled world in which we now find ourselves, where everything, and everyone, is truly interconnected.
My whole life, people have been asking (in that way that is a judgment masquerading as a question), “Why don’t you just pick one (interest/thing/project/medium)?” And I would always think, “Why? I love them all.” And invariably, many would shake their head and say, “you’re all over the place.”
So I finally did it. I decided to choose one. And that one thing is Everything. Life. I’ve decided to embrace that all over the place label and turn it on its tuchis.*
We are living in such a complex time, such an exhilarating time, such a harrowing time. One of deep polarity and paradox. So, we decided to go all over the place to talk to anyone about anything. Anywhere. To find out what’s on people’s minds, and in their hearts. About the real shit. Family. Mental Health. Sex+Relationships. Aging. Race. Sexual/Gender Identity. The State of the Planet. The stuff that connects people in ways that transcend all the demographic silos that separate us.
Then, after the “Why don’t you just pick one?” query, the next question(s) quickly and invariably rears its head. “What’s the product? What’s the end product? What are you selling?” How are you going to make money? While I’ve always wanted to make money doing meaningful work, I just never thought of the money first. Inspiration and the “Why” always precede the “What,” for me.
I look at them and say, “The product is consciousness. The product is elevating the planet. The product is lowering the temperature and raising the vibration on such planet. The product is getting people to communicate with each other in a civil way that has been lost. The product is opening people’s perspectives, minds and hearts.” And of course, I want you to buy t-shirts and attend our events and support what we’re doing.
However, unless we’re able to come together as people and have conversations about uncomfortable subjects where the conversations don’t have to be uncomfortable, and learn to listen better and assume and judge less, we’re not going to make it through together. We need to learn again how to be able to have civil dialogue even if people disagree.
We are using media and entertainment and pop culture and the tools of our time, for good…to entertain + elevate in ways that simply help to open minds and hearts. To bring people together in community. We’re going to have fun doing it, whether it’s online and through social media, in our upcoming podcast, or on our RoadTrips. Bringing people together, tushies in seats, to connect Community in Communities. And, of course, social media and online presence are there to expand awareness. And conversations.
No matter the medium or forum, our intention is to combat Separation and Polarization because that shit is destroying us.
All Over the Place’s messaging is resonating with people all over, we are constantly told, “we need this more than ever.” Post-Covid, people are plotzing to connect, to engage, to be inspired.
The outmoded paradigms and constructs, if they haven’t been imploded yet, are crumbling before us, and lots of humans are scared, even if they see/know that these old models and lenses are no longer serving us. Soooo many people are fighting this shift that’s already been underway for a while, and there is no going backwards.
I’m here to tell you, as a lifelong Bridger, that I love the opportunity to bring people together to find places where we’re connected and where we can share some love and perspective because we all are truly in this together. We can do this, by opening and not contracting.
Please join us on this journey. Follow us on social media. Invite us to your town. Host events with us. Now more than ever, we must find ways to connect, and focus on the similarities, more than the differences, among us.
